Director

"Too often in life we seek to escape. Escape from our circumstances, those around us, or our own thoughts and demons. Eurydice is the story of finding that escape within ourselves. The greatest love story you can ever have is the one you have with yourself. As Eurydice learns to love herself, she learns what it means to be alone (but not lonely) and find herself. The strength she gains along the way allows her to prioritize her needs over her wants; a decision in life that is hard to make and takes courage, strength, and belief in yourself to trust that it is the right decision. On this journey she and those around her learn to make peace with letting go in order to move on. Through this production our actors have found an escape from the current craziness of our lives and have helped me escape with them. I am eternally grateful for their dedication and hard work. It has been so fulfilling watching them create the beautiful picture that is Eurydice. Despite the unorthodox rehearsal process and performance platform they have given me the same gratification that inspired me to pursue theatre in the first place, and for that I thank you. Now my hope is that you can escape with us in Kaye Playhouse’s production of Eurydice!"

Cathrine Fantina

Director

Cathrine is so humbled and honored to be making her directorial debut with the Kaye Playhouse’s production of Eurydice. This is her last semester at Hunter and she will be graduating with a double major in Theatre and Film. Although acting is her main passion, this experience has solidified her love for directing and has taught her more than she ever expected to learn about all the talent, dedication, and love for theatre it takes to put on a full production.
